Construction on Phase 1 of the San Pedro Creek Improvements Project is now underway. To accommodate the project’s underground utility work that is currently taking place, please be aware of possible lane closures and road detours if traveling downtown near the construction area. Current Closures

  • Calder Alley from Commerce Street to Dolorosa Street is closed.
  • Camaron Street from Houston Street to the Santa Rosa Street Bridge is closed. All intersection street crossings are open. Vehicular traffic is allowed to cross Camaron Street at Travis Street.
  • The westbound lane of Houston Street from Flores Street to South Laredo Street is closed.
  • One lane of North Santa Rosa Street from the tunnel inlet to Martin Street is closed.
  • Pedestrians should follow detour signage along Santa Rosa, Travis, Martin, Kingsbury and Flores Streets.
  • Night partial closures will occur on Commerce for utility work.

Construction Notes

  • Crews will continue backfilling and excavating the walls, as well as forming walls and footings to prepare for concrete pours between the tunnel inlet and the Santa Rosa Street Bridge.
  • The construction team will excavate the retaining wall footing on the west side of the creek channel between Santa Rosa Street and Martin Street.
  • Crews will continue demolition and excavation under Martin Street on the east side of the channel before moving to the west side of the creek channel.
  • Utility relocation on Houston, Commerce, and Nueva Streets will continue.
